As part of a research project with the University of Florida and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, we’re collecting recent (beginning August 2011) fox squirrel sightings throughout the state to determine distribution and dive into the why’s of fox squirrel presence on a landscape level. I’m focusing on both public and private lands, basically anywhere you see a fox squirrel. This is a presence only study, so you won’t need to report multiple sightings for the same location, but if multiple people do that, it’s not a problem and the data will be used. It’s very simple to submit sightings using the Google map application (takes less than 2 minutes) that automatically enters the lat/long once you choose the location. Here’s the website folks can submit sightings https://public.myfwc.com/hsc/foxsquirrel/GetLatLong.aspx
