The Florida Chapter of The Wildlife Society (FLTWS) will hold its 2011 Fall Business Meeting during October 11-12, 2011 at the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum, St. Augustine (http://www.staugustinelighthouse.com/). A room block will be held until October 4, 2011 at the Best Western Seaside Inn for $79.99/night. You can make your room reservation by calling (904) 461-9990 and asking for the Florida Wildlife Society. A dinner social will be provided at the hotel poolside following the meeting.
FLTWS, The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and Audubon are also offering a unique opportunity in the form of a FREE workshop. The workshop will be on shorebird identification and monitoring following the Business meeting on October 12th. FWC will provide information on their new bird monitoring database and on-site identification. Audubon will also provide instruction on information collection. All this will take place in the beautiful setting of the Fort Matanzas National Park (www.nps.gov/foma/index.htm).
In addition, the St. Augustine Alligator Farm is offering a FREE field trip the morning of October 12th in the form of a personalized tour with Alligator Farm staff and a FWC Biologist. Only 10 spaces are open for this field trip!
